IN HER OWN WORDS

Osiyo! (Hello)!

     I am an Eastern band Cherokee from the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina.

     Being heavily involved in all aspects of my culture and heritage, and attending many various functions...

     I came to the realization, the absolute need to share each others wisdom and knowledge of each Nation and tribe to preserve what is left of that known knowledge of our ancestors of the past.

    The ones of us that have been taught by those Elders, some already crossed over, have been given a tremendous responsibility to remember and pass on that knowledge.

     Being a Legend Keeper (Story Teller) of my people and cultural teacher, I do have that responsibility to remember and carry on to the next generations that what was taught to me at an early age.

    In this age of computers, it has made it easier to record and document all knowledge, and not just from verbal alone so we can share with all!

     So began, "Voices of the RedWinds" over eight years ago. It started as just a question and answer column in a local newspaper and grew till now it is world-wide across the internet and various web sites!

     I look forward to sharing what I can with each of you out there everywhere, what I was taught by my Tsalagi Elders.

     By sharing stories, and answer what questions some may have about the Original Peoples from a Native-Heart point of view.....
