I am the little child whose existence is ignored
With dirty face and unwiped nose
Tears of hunger, tears of pain, tears of mystery run down my face
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the old one tossed away like useless straw
Bent and weak with wrinkles like deep ravines
From broken heart, lost spirit and crushed pride
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the lost youth, I was born this way
Whose wings are clipped afore they grow
Whose Past is gloried by those outside
But not allowed to those inside
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the lost spirit with largely forgotten past and no future
Forced to give up all that created me
To cut my hair and change my clothes
If I did not wish to live upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the Code Talker yet holding to the Warrior's Spirit
Whose language saved your butts
Then forced back into the fenceless zoo
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am a one lost in invented perfidity
Whose ancient peoples were invited to war
So they could then be righteously pacified
And now live upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am a one who has no identity
Unless a government I did not ask for
Gives me a name, a card, some money and a logless home
A fireless hearth, an empty larder, a blanketless bed
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am a one who stands in bewilderment
As I watch other minorities gain power and wealth
Respect and honor, equality and encouraged to grow
While I wilt and wither upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the one whose ideas are lost
For I am thought to be a drunken one
Like all my extended Family is seen to be
Upon a Reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the one who helped raise the flag
Upon a near forgotten island in America's Past
Then showed like an animal in a Petting Zoo
Then forgotten lost upon a Reservation whose name no one knows.
Don't pass me by.

I am the one who has been written of
In such glorious words residing in libraries
Yet, still thought of and treated like ignorant savage
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the one other colors and races have begun to admire
Seeking in wrongful ways, to teach us of our own heritage
Which we are not allowed to have
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the one who stands alone in the midst of the human race
Whose plight is hidden and choked from world media
Whose name politicians will not speak, not popular you see
Upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am your conscience from days long gone
Made extinct by gifts of small pox ridden blankets
Taught with pleas for help; enticed with wampum; encouraged to scalp
Then blamed and placed upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the victim of centuries old holocaust
The type of genocide the world proclaims to decry
The ways and means somewhat different, the result the same
Living upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Don't pass me by.

I am the one you will have to look at
As One Day, in all religions it is said one has to answer
For all things done and things not done when they could have
I am the Native or American Indian -
And I live upon a reservation whose name no one knows
Open your eyes and your hearts - and don't pass me by.
